Looking to pursue a career in the investment world, Andy Faught double- majored in finance and economics with the intent of one day becoming an institutional money manager. Then, in his junior year at Lipscomb University, Andy was introduced to financial planning through a college internship at Lincoln Financial Group.

The work he was exposed to as a financial planning intern made him realize that despite his analytical talent, he was drawn to the human interaction that is an essential component of a financial planner’s job. “I learned that I didn’t want to be staring at spreadsheets all day long, and that working face to face with clients is very fulfilling for me,” says Andy. That insight would serve as a turning point in his career.

Today, as the Advanced Planning Coordinator for Capital Financial Advisors, LLC, Andy’s job entails collaborating with the advisors at the firm on complex case design, with a special emphasis on investment and estate planning scenarios. “It’s the best of both worlds,” he shares, allowing him to capitalize on all of his strengths. “I’m good at taking in a lot of complex data, and presenting my analysis to clients in short, ‘digestible,’ increments. I get to assist clients in the role of a very specialized consultant, which I also enjoy,” he says.

In addition to the CFP® designation, Andy has also obtained the Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. The CFA is a globally recognized credential that demonstrates mastery of the skills most needed for investment analysis and decision-making in today’s fast-evolving financial industry. “While the CFP® designation has allowed me to help clients break down complicated situations, and determine what they need to do simply, the CFA designation has trained me to be able to look at investment portfolios and design them to address clients’ goals and concerns,” says Andy.

Outside of work, Andy tries to find time to play golf as much as possible. Having grown up in Indiana, he is an avid Indiana basketball fan. He and his wife, Jennifer, are both self-professed foodies and enjoy traveling the United States in pursuit of gourmet cooking.
